Terms of Reference

  1. This Committee shall be responsible for making recommendations to Council for final approval with respect to awards which will be presented on behalf of the Association.

  2.  Awards shall take on a suitable form, and with the exception of the Bowl of Hygeia Award may not be presented annually, but at the discretion of Council.  The specific awards to be presented on behalf of the Association shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Honorary Life Membership

    bullet

    Meritorious Service Award

    bullet

    Service Pins (25 and 50 years)

    bullet

    Ernest C. MacDonald Memorial Medal

    bullet

    James C Quick Award

    bullet

    Ralph J Harris Future of Pharmacy Award

    bullet

    PANL Student Spirit Award

  3. This Committee shall consist of at least six (6) members, with recommendation that its members reflect the following areas of practice:  community pharmacist, hospital pharmacist, pharmacy student member, new practitioner and two of whom should be the prior recipients of the Bowl of Hygeia Award. 

  4. This Committee shall be appointed by Council.

  5. Appointments to this Committee shall be for two (2) year terms, and the Chair of this Committee shall be appointed by Council.  Persons who serve on this Committee remain qualified for re-appointment thereto for subsequent terms.

  6. The Executive Director shall act as secretary of this Committee and shall report to Council as required in such secretarial capacity.

  7. This Committee shall meet each year on or about April 1st to discuss nominations for the various awards.  All nominations must be made on the prescribed form and must be proposed and seconded by members of the Association.

  8. Members of this Committee who are unable to attend any meeting may provide written suggestions and/or comments to the Executive Director prior to the time of any such meeting.

  9. All awards made by the Association, with the exception of the Ernest C. MacDonald Memorial Medal, shall be presented at the President's Luncheon and Awards Presentation, which will take place during the Annual Conference of the Association.

  10. The Committee shall be required to keep minutes of its recommendations and submit it, with supporting documentation, to Council for review and approval.
