          Media

Welcome to the Media Webpage of the Pharmacists' Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.  This area will provide current news releases and activities of the Association.

With the island of Newfoundland and the larger Labrador portion comprising of over 400,000 square kilometres and a population size of approximately 500,000, it creates some unique challenges and opportunities for the Province's health care system and the health care professionals who work within it.

As the most accessible and trusted health care professional(1), pharmacists have the unique opportunity of working closely with patients, caregivers and other health care providers to promote health, prevent disease and assess and monitor medication use.

With pharmacists in this Province practicing in a variety of settings (community, hospital and other clinical institutional settings, academia and research settings, etc.), our members play an important role in the management of patient care and promoting healthy living choices.  There is a growing imperative for pharmacists to play a leadership role in meeting the needs of patients not only as the medication management experts, but educating patients and caregivers on health promotion.

The Pharmacists' Association of Newfoundland and Labrador is working with its members to develop, promote and advance the role that pharmacists play in primary health care within the Province.
